The football dreams of several young Nigerian players are edging closer to reality as Torino FC prepares to sign standout cadets from ACT Sports Di Oyibo Football Academy, following their eye-catching performances during a recent tour of Italy.
The ACT Sports team, made up of highly promising teenage players from Nigeria, arrived in Torino on May 24. Over the course of three friendly matches, the team delivered a resounding message to European football—30 goals scored, only 2 conceded, and a dominant presence on the pitch that stunned opponents and spectators alike.
Impressed by their quality, Gianluca Cabella, Director of the Torino FC Academy, confirmed that select players from the ACT Sports squad will remain in Italy for further training and evaluation.
“Your players have shown great quality, and we have decided that it will be best to keep them here to further sharpen the rough edges of their game,” Cabella stated.
This development stems from the formal partnership between ACT Sports Di Oyibo Ltd. and Torino FC, signed in 2024. The collaboration focuses on identifying, training, and marketing African talent through structured international exposure and professional development.
Pastor Samuel R. Oyibo, Director of ACT Sports, described the news as a major morale-booster, not just for the academy but for grassroots football development in Africa.
“I am pleased with the way things have turned out. This is necessary for their development, and it’s also a new phase for our partners Torino FC, in their mission to discover and shape world-class talent from Africa,” he said.
Pastor Oyibo further noted that ACT Sports is committed to giving more players the same opportunity and hinted at more international trips coming soon.
The decision by Torino FC to retain players for further development signals a major endorsement of ACT Sports’ talent pipeline. It also validates years of hard work in preparing young African players to take their place on the global football stage.
As discussions around player signings continue, one thing is certain: ACT Sports is no longer just an academy—it’s a launchpad. And for the boys who impressed in Italy, their journey into professional football may have just begun.
