Jojo Ignites Europe: ACT Sports Forward Delivers 14 Goals in Tour De Force

Torino, Italy – June 2025

In the ever-evolving theatre of global football, where young talents rise and fall with the tide of opportunity, a new name has emerged with striking clarity, Onwuatuegwu Joseph Ifechukwudi, popularly known as Jojo.

At just 18 years old, the young Nigerian striker from Illah, Delta State, has captivated the attention of European scouts and football insiders with a performance nothing short of sensational. During ACT Sports Di Oyibo Football Academy’s recent tour of Italy, Jojo found the net 14 times in three matches, a remarkable feat by any standard.

His performance has not only lit up pitches across Torino but has also amplified discussions around the depth and readiness of Nigerian grassroots football to produce world-class talent. Born on March 1, 2007, in Kubwa, Abuja, Jojo has showcased a blend of technical precision, tactical intelligence, and a poacher’s instinct that belies his age.

Clad in jersey number 11, Jojo led ACT Sports’ front line with maturity and menace. In a particularly commanding fixture, ACT Sports dismantled Mocchetti FC Italy with a staggering 12–0 victory, in which Jojo’s off-the-ball movement and clinical finishing left an indelible mark on the Italian spectators.

“Joseph is the kind of player every academy dreams of grooming,” remarked Coach Ebeagwu Gabriel Owen, who alongside Pastor Samuel R. Oyibo, Director of ACT Sports Di Oyibo Academy, led the Nigerian delegation on the tour. “He’s focused, fearless, and always in the right place at the right time.”

ACT Sports as a team performed with cohesion and conviction, scoring 30 goals and conceding only 2 across three fixtures. But it was Jojo’s individual brilliance, goal after goal, that has now become the focal point of interest for Serie A clubs and Greek teams alike.

“We came to Italy to give our boys exposure and a real taste of professional football,” said Pastor Oyibo. “What we’ve seen from Jojo is a testament to what is possible when talent is nurtured in the right environment.”

Scouts from several professional outfits were present throughout the matches, and credible reports indicate that discussions are ongoing concerning possible contracts, not only for Jojo but for other standout players from the ACT Sports squad. A few players, sources confirm, have already caught the attention of Torino FC and other Serie A teams for potential development placements.

As a journalist who has followed African football for over two decades, it’s rare to witness such a balance of potential, personality, and performance in a single young athlete. Jojo doesn’t just score goals, he plays with a sense of purpose, an understanding of space, and an ice-cold composure that is simply not teachable.

“He’s not just talented,” noted an assistant coach. “He’s hungry. And in football, hunger makes the difference.”

This Italian tour by ACT Sports has proven more than just a series of friendly fixtures. It has become a statement of intent, that with proper structure, partnerships, and spiritual grounding, African academies can produce talent on par with any in the world.

As the tour concludes and the team returns to Nigeria, the impact will linger, not just in the highlight reels, but in the conversations now happening in European boardrooms. And at the heart of that discussion is a young man from Delta State, who dreams big, runs hard, and scores even harder.

Jojo’s story has just begun. And if the opening chapter is anything to go by, the football world should be paying very close attention.
